frequently asked questions

Where are you based? Do you travel?

Mitten baby! We are based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Yeeeahhhh we travel! Currently we are living in an 83 square foot CAAUUTTE trailer and traveling the beautiful United States.

What is your editing style?

We are all about bringing out the simple beauty and details. We have a minimalist style so that the photos are all about you and the beautiful location you choose. We value accurate landscape coloring and skin tones. We love to highlight the blues and greens in our photos. All the photos are hand-edited by Meg. We don’t outsource any editing - we love it too much!

How long have you been taking pictures?

Meg has been taking pictures for years but professionally since December 2018.

How do we book you?

First, LOVE that you’re asking this question! We would be totally pumped to photograph you! Visit the ‘Book Me’ page and submit an online form telling us what package you’re interested in and any other details you know. We require a 25% retainer fee at booking and remaining balance made a week before the shoot.

Do you have experience editing different skin tones?

I do! I started as a photographer for a non profit in an urban setting where I learned to photograph and edit many different skin tones and age groups.

What does a shoot with you look like?

FUN and natural! HOPEFULLY after a while you’ll forget that we are even there! Meg will offer up some questions, prompts and poses when needed. We love to encourage natural movement and the way you relate to one another.

How will we receive our photos?

You will receive your photos in a finished state with a mixture of color and black and white. You will receive them through a private online gallery and if it is a wedding you will also receive a personalized USB drive. You will receive all the photos with the exception of duplicates, or pictures with poor lighting or unflattering angles.

Can we share our photos on social media?

PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE! You should! Just don’t forget to tag @pearsonimagery in your photos to give us photo credit. Our business thrives off of people like you that share the photos we capture and tag us! SO thank you!

Is there a better lighting for photography?

Good question, there is! Natural lighting is always best! So when you’re thinking about location, what rooms you’re getting ready in, etc. be thinking about lots of windows, rooms with neutral paint colors, and outdoor areas, both shaded and unshaded.

Do you provide printing rights?

Yes you get everything! When you get our photos they are done, so please don’t edit them further. When you’re printing your photos, we recommend places like Artifact Uprising that preserve the edits and memories well.

Will you take formal family portraits at my wedding?

Totally! All about it and plan for that in your day. We value efficiency and excellence in our shoots and ask that you provide family information that would help us organize this part of your day. Information like names, handicapped individuals, any family tensions, etc. is all helpful.

What happens if you’re sick?

Well that would be the saddest thing ever and it has yet to happen. BUT if it does we would first reach out to trusted photographers in the area and if that doesn’t work you would get a full refund including your retainer (we would have to be REALLY sick by the way).

IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE CURRENT PANDEMIC WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE TAKE FULL PRECAUTIONS + WILL BE WEARING MASKS, USING HAND SANITIZER, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OURS DURING YOUR SHOOT.

What kind of gear do you use?

2 Canon 5D Mark iv bodies, Canon 35mm f/1.4, Canon 24-105mm f/4, and Canon 70-200 f/2.8.

Are you two married?

Heck yeah we are + loving every minute of it. Marriage is the literal best! We got married May 2017 in Matt’s home church, then climbed to the roof (yes in my dress) to see a glorious rainbow + sunset.
